I just snorkel and it sounds as if the reef is great there. Any suggestions on getting there and back from Makad.

Fort Arabesque and no place else in Hurghada. 2. Re: Makadi bay or sahl hasheesh for snorkeling. You've been spoilt in Marsa but I agree Fort arabesque in makadi has an excellent house reef if your choosing between the two resorts. The best place for snorkelling in my opinion is Sharm el Naga, worth a day trip.

The water temperature can reach 29-30 °C in the summer months (July-August). The sea is the coldest in December and January (20-21 °C) so wearing a 3 mm wetsuit might be useful for your comfort, although some people swim without it too.
